Job description

The Role:

The Data Architect will collaborate with stakeholders & developers on strategic data initiatives and products, ensuring data is optimally and consistently delivered per agreed requirements.

The Data Architect also defines and provides direction for the ongoing maintenance, support and optimisation of existing data assets and delivery architectures. The Data Architect will lead strategic projects, determining overall tech stack and data architecture. They must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products.

What you'll do: 

  • Collaborating with business stakeholders to define data architecture and data requirements.
  • Designing data models and schemas to meet business needs.
  • Evaluating and selecting appropriate data storage solutions, such as relational databases, data warehouses, data lakes, and NoSQL databases.
  • Overseeing the implementation of data governance policies and standards.
  • Ensuring data quality and integrity across the organization.
  • Ensuring compliance with data security and privacy regulations.
  • Communicating data architecture strategies and plans to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Participating in strategic planning and technology selection for data and analytics initiatives.


Job requirements

Job requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Information Systems / Business Management OR specialized training/certification (at least 1 year) OR 10 years' experience work experience.
  • Extensive experience with data migration, data integration, and ETL processes.
  • Experience with modern data platforms and technologies such as serverless computing, containerization, and microservices. 
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with data manipulation languages such as Python.
  • Experience with data storage and retrieval technologies, SQL and NoSQL. 
  • Experience with data processing frameworks such as Snowflake, Databricks or Apache Spark. 
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. 

Knowledge or experience using the following the tools:

  • Strong understanding of data architecture principles and best practices. 
  • Expertise in data modelling and database design.
  • In-depth understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality and data management practices.
  • Strong knowledge of data security and privacy regulations.
